Korine (Philadelphia, PA) - Synthpop, Electronic

Korine is a Philadelphia based duo by members Morgy Ramone and Trey Frye. The pair blends new wave nostalgia with a modern pop sensibility, contrasting upbeat rhythms against sullen and emotionally evocative lyrics. The duo released their debut EP “Corsage” in the fall of 2017, followed by their first full length “New Arrangements” released in 2018 by Born Losers Records.

Black Esther (Bloomington, IL) - Indie, Electronic

The project of Bryan Byers, Black Esther was born out of a dark basement in the Midwest. Started as a way to creatively explore music and songwriting on his own, Byers spent years experimenting and refining in private. After a medical diagnosis, Byers started to focus his songwriting on anxiety, depression, and coping with the stresses of life. Heavy lyrics paired with infectious melodies and danceable beats defines the Black Esther aesthetic that one venue owner described as "sad-boy party music."

Encouraged by friends and family to perform live, Byers has embraced the DIY approach, creating synchronized light shows, performing with video game peripherals, and designing and creating merchandise with the help of live-collaborator Ryan Johnston (guitar, synth, backup vocals). Byers writes, performs, and records every instrument in his music, for creations that are extremely personal, and wholly him, to share his journey and connect with those around him in the best way he knows how.

Hungu (Chicago/Normal, IL) - Electronic, Ambient, Hip Hop

Hungu presents a refreshing mix of both Analog (Cello) and Electronic (Keys, Beats) sounds. We're quite fond of Hungu at nightshop, and it's been too long since he's graced our stage.
